About Emily

Emily Mayer is a service designer based in Washington, D.C. she earned an M.A. in Service Designn and a B.F.A. in Fashion Design at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).

She is currently a Senior Service Designer at Truist Bank leading projects across multiple lines of business.

She has previously worked as a fashion designer at Target and JCPenney, a teacher in New York City public schools, and in higher education as an Industry and Alumni Engagement Manager for SCAD.

There have been hints throughout her career path that connecting customer desires with business strategy aligns with her purpose. Working in fashion, she saw how customer listening, testing, storytelling, and advocating for design ideas contributed to customer delight and boosted sales. Lesson planning and teaching high school prepared her for designing and facilitating stakeholder workshops. Finally, building strategic relationships in a university setting demonstrated systems thinking; helping students and alumni get jobs, connect employers to talent, and create revenue for the school.

As Emily further immerses in service design thinking, the problems in the world around her only get more interesting.
